Mercurius is the software platform that enables Belgian government departments to send e-invoices and other documents in UBL format. receiving, process and send.
Mercurius acts as a central hub for all public sector entities, where incoming Peppol mail messages are receiving and outgoing messages are correctly placed on the Peppol network.
The goal of Mercurius is to support electronic billing for all government agencies in Belgium, including federal, Flemish, regional and local departments. The platform ensures that all e-invoices from suppliers reach the correct government departments.
How to send invoices through Mercurius?
Connecting to the Mercurius Access Point requires collaboration with approved Peppol Access Point Providers, who help companies set up their e-billing infrastructure. By connecting to the Peppol network, companies can easily send electronic invoices to all government agencies that support Peppol, as well as to other companies using the same network.
- sending by supplier: The supplier sends its e-invoice to the government entity via the Peppol transport infrastructure.
- Receipt by Mercurius: Mercurius receives the e-invoice on behalf of the government entity and places it with the 'incoming shipments' of the relevant entity.
- Retrieval and processing by Government Entity: The government entity retrieves and processes its e-invoices.
- Prepare and send response: The government entity sends a response to Mercurius, which is then sent to the vendor via the Peppol network, email or a portal.
